Dedham Workplace Discrimination Lawyers for Employees and Employers

At Russell & Associates LLC, we represent employees and employers in discrimination matters and wage/hour matters. We hold employers accountable for the laws enforced by the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Attorney General's Office and Department of Labor. In Massachusetts, as in other states, small employers are held to many of the same laws as large multinational companies, specifically those governed by the EEOC that involve civil rights, equal pay, age discrimination, pregnancy and disabilities.

The employment law and labor attorneys at Russell & Associates LLC also protect employers from frivolous lawsuits and will seek to prove that discrimination did not take place. The employment lawyers at Team Russell have handled more than 300 trials. Should your case go to trial, we will be prepared.

Russell & Associates LLC provides employers with advice on a variety of workplace issues such as revisions to employee manuals, the adoption or review of vacation or leave policies, application of maternity leave policies and the drafting of anti-discrimination policies. The firm is prepared to provide prompt advice to avoid future litigation, and to ensure compliance with the numerous state and federal obligations, as well as individually adopted employment policies.

Protection Against Illegal Retaliation

Federal civil rights laws prohibit retaliation by employers against employees for opposing illegal employment practices or for participating in or assisting investigations of potential employment discrimination. Recently, the Supreme Court expanded the protections available under the anti-retaliation provisions of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to include employees who speak out about discrimination, not on their own initiative, but in response to questions during an employer's internal investigation. The Supreme Court's decision may lead to a proliferation of retaliation claims, which have already been on the rise.

Illegal retaliation may take many forms, including intentionally false references given to prospective employers of former employees because they protested unlawful employment discrimination. The key question is whether the employee suffered an adverse employment action because he or she engaged in statutorily protected activity.
